This short-course covers the skills of measurement taking, drafting out the paper pattern based on the design and then sewing it into reality. You'll understand how your body measurements translate to paper patterns, master various sewing techniques and experience the whole process of garment-making.

We'll make patternmaking easy to understand and cover multiple sewing techniques such as adding buttons and buttonholes, making straps, creating a button placket and finishing necklines and raw edges.

What You Will Learn

  • Drafting your own pattern template and taking body measurements from scratch.
  • Cutting & sewing your very own button-down dress with straps
  • How to operate domestic machines and use the tools necessary for sewing.
  • Effective sewing steps for dressmaking.
  • Fundamental understanding of drafting patterns, layout, and cutting on-grain.

Important note

  • This class is for beginners who are interested to learn to make this garment from scratch.
  • If you’re not familiar operating sewing machines, you may attend our Starter Bundle class.
  • Sewing tools and machines are provided.
  • You will be briefed on the fabrics needed during class so you don't have to bring anything for your first lesson.
