Intro to Fashion Illustration 101 (Womenswear- Series of 6)
6 session course total 15 hours
Basic drawing materials will be provided at the start. Depending on your direction, you will need to purchase additional materials (paper, pencils, copic markers etc.) to illustrate. You may speak to the instructor about this on the first class session.
Being able to visually articulate your ideas is an essential skill for any aspiring fashion designer. This course will guide you through the process of illustrating clothing in a clear, visually appealing form. It is appropriate for beginners with an interest in pursuing fashion design, or fashion designers who wish to improve their hand illustration skills.
What You’ll Learn:
Creating a fashion figure/croquis/pose
Creating a simple fashion head/face
Drawing clothes on the figure
Rendering with copic markers
You will receive personalized instruction within class time, according to your areas of interest or need. Weekly homework will be assigned and regular feedback given. If you require additional help beyond class time, please contact the instructor to discuss. There is an option to extend the course for more in-depth learning, or to receive coaching from the instructor regarding fashion design education/ careers in the US.
Classes start on time, please arrive 5 mins early if possible.
About the Instructor:
Cheng Yi Lin graduated with a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Fashion Design from Los Angeles, U.S. She worked as an Assistant Designer in New York City for 2 years before moving back to Singapore to start her freelance career. Her illustration work has been featured in a video ad for Shu Uemura Singapore.
